1. Rapid Assessment & Triage

Emergency Medicine focuses on quick evaluation and prioritization (triage) of patients based on the severity of their condition. This ensures that critical and life-threatening cases receive immediate attention.

2. Management of Medical Emergencies

The department treats a wide range of urgent conditions, including:

• Trauma and accidents
• Severe infections and sepsis
• Heart attacks and strokes
• Respiratory distress
• Acute abdominal pain
• Poisoning and overdoses

3. Trauma & Accident Care

Emergency teams provide initial trauma management, including bleeding control, fracture stabilization, wound care, and resuscitation, often working closely with orthopedics, surgery, and anesthesia teams.

4. Resuscitation & Life Support

Advanced life-saving procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, oxygen therapy, and emergency medication administration are core responsibilities of the department.

The Emergency Department is staffed by emergency physicians, general practitioners, nurses, and support staff trained to work under pressure and make fast, accurate decisions. It collaborates closely with:

• Laboratory and Radiology

• Ambulance and referral services

🏥 Patient Flow & Continuity of Care

After stabilization, patients may be:

• Discharged with treatment and follow-up advice
• Admitted to inpatient wards or ICU
